We have been advised that amended development application plans are now on exhibition at Mid-Western Regional Council and open for public comment until Friday 30 August 2019.
The amended plans reduce the scale of the development. No parking is now proposed on the Anglican Church site and thirty-nine (39) on-site parking spaces are proposed. The existing theatre auditorium will be retained and converted for use as a function room. Thirty-four hotel rooms are proposed at the rear of the theatre and on the Short St site. The building will have three (3) levels and step down to the rear so that it has a two-storey appearance from Short Street.
A copy of the development application proposal is available for your perusal at Council’s Administration Centre at 86 Market Street, Mudgee, 109 Herbert Street Gulgong or 77 Louee Street Rylstone commencing 9 August 2019.
The amended plans and documents are also available on Council’s website, accessed through “Development Applications Currently on Exhibition”. Alternatively, the documents may be accessed via this this link.
You are advised that any comments regarding this application must be made in writing, addressed to the General Manager. Any such comments must be received by Council by 30 August 2019.
We strongly support saving the theatre for operation as a theatre and will be sharing more reflections on the amended DA in the coming days. We welcome input and comments to us via email here so that we can all help each other get through the large document.
